This SOP will provide basic troubleshooting steps for equipment supplied to the field sales team: Zebra ET-45, Brother Printer, and SIM Card.

Section 1: Zebra ET-45 troubleshooting
A) Display Issues:
Remove the battery from the tablet for about 10-15 seconds. Re-insert the battery back into the tablet. Proceed to power on the Tablet. Steps to remove the battery:
- Ensure the tablet is powered off.

Lift the corner of the battery cover up (1) from the notched area and carefully remove the battery cover from the device (2) as shown.
- Using your fingernail, slide and hold the battery lock switch in the unlock position (1).

While the switch is in the unlock position, lift the battery from the notched area (2), rotate the battery up, and then remove it from the battery well (3). Rotate the battery up and then pull it out of the battery well.

Gently push the battery towards the contacts:
(1) while rotating the battery down into the battery well
2) ensuring it is seated properly.
Note: the orientation of the battery cover. Failure to replace the battery cover properly may cause damage.

Insert the tabbed end of the battery cover into the slots in the battery well (1).

Rotate the cover down (2).
-
Carefully press down around the edges of the cover. Make sure that the cover is seated properly.
B) Battery and Charging Issues:
Remove the battery from the tablet for about 10-15 seconds. Re-insert the battery back into the tablet. Keep the tablet powered off and plug it into a power source. Let the tablet power on, it will display the Zebra logo briefly and the screen will turn off. Let the tablet charge in this state for 5-10 minutes. After this time, please go ahead and use power on the tablet.
Steps to remove the battery:
- Ensure the tablet is powered off.

Lift the corner of the battery cover up (1) from the notched area and carefully remove the battery cover from the device (2) as shown.
- Using your fingernail, slide and hold the battery lock switch in the unlock position (1).

While the switch is in the unlock position, lift the battery from the notched area (2), rotate the battery up, and then remove it from the battery well (3). Rotate the battery up and then pull it out of the battery well.

Gently push the battery towards the contacts:
(1) while rotating the battery down into the battery well
2) ensuring it is seated properly.
Note: the orientation of the battery cover. Failure to replace the battery cover properly may cause damage.

C) Scanning Issues:
If the Tablet is unable to scan products, please follow steps from B. Remove the battery and keep the battery out for five minutes. Replace the battery and power on. The scanning functionality should now work.

D) How to Disable Do not Disturb:
If the Tablet is not producing sound when scanning or any other notifications. Do Not Disturb may be enabled, as shown in the image below, a circle with a line through it indicates Do Not Disturb is enabled.
- Swipe down from the notification bar
- Tap the Do Not Disturb Icon to disable it.
- Do Not Disturb is now disabled and sound functionality will work as intended.

E) How to disable Airplane Mode
If the tablet has Airplane mode enabled, an airplane icon will be present on the notification bar:
- Swipe down on the notification bar to expose notification bar icons.

Swipe down to extend the notification bar
- Tap the Airplane mode to disable.
- Airplane mode has now been disabled.
F) How to disable NFC
- Swipe down on the notification bar to expose notification bar icons.
- Swipe down on the bar to extend the notification bar
- Swipe left on the notification bar icons to navigate to the second page.
- Tap NFC to disable.
- NFC has now been disabled.

Section 2: Brother Printer troubleshooting
A) Printing Issues (cleaning printhead):

Partially printing invoices or reports, how to clean the printhead:
- Open the printer lid and remove the roll of paper.

Take your piece of cloth damped with alcohol or contact spray and gently wipe the printhead.

Allow the printhead to dry. Re-insert the paper roll and attempt to print.
B) Cannot print due to Java error: Exception of type 'Java.10.10exception' was thrown.

This indicates Bluetooth is disabled on the Tablet. To resolve this, enable Bluetooth.

From the notification bar
-
Swipe down on the notification bar.
-
Tap the Bluetooth icon to enable it. The icon will turn light blue.

Swipe down on the notification bar.

From the Tablet home screen:

Tap Device Settings

Tap Bluetooth
-
Tap the Bluetooth slider to enable it.

Tap Device Settings

From the notification bar

This indicates Bluetooth is disabled on the Tablet. To resolve this, enable Bluetooth.

Section 3: SIM card troubleshooting
How to remove SIM card
If receiving a notification for "No SIM, no service" please follow these steps below:

Ensure the tablet is powered off. (Do not attempt to remove the battery while the tablet is powered on.)

Press and hold the Power button until the menu appears and press Power off.

Lift the corner of the battery cover up (1) from the notched area and carefully remove the battery cover from the device (2) as shown.Do not use any tool for battery cover or battery removal. Puncturing the battery or seal may cause a hazardous condition and a potential risk of injury.

Using your fingernail, slide and hold the battery lock switch in the unlock position (1).
-
While the switch is in the unlock position, lift the battery from the notched area (2), rotate the battery up and then remove it from the battery well (3).
-
After removing the battery from the tablet, release the battery lock switch.
-
If replacing the nano SIM card, remove the existing card.
-
Push in the installed SIM card and release.
-
The card ejects slightly so that you can remove it.
-
Remove the SIM card from the card slot. The card should easily slide out. If not, the SIM card was not ejected correctly. Repeat step A.

Insert the nano SIM card with the contacts facing up.
-
Push the SIM card in and ensure that it locks into place.
-
Replace the battery, contacts side first.
-
Gently push the battery towards the contacts:
(1) while rotating the battery down into the battery well
2) ensuring it is seated properly.
Note: the orientation of the battery cover. Failure to replace the battery cover properly may cause damage.

Insert the tabbed end of the battery cover into the slots in the battery well (1) and rotate the cover down (2).

Carefully press down around the edges of the cover. Make sure that the cover is seated properly.17. Power on the tablet and the cellular data should be working. If it does not, please open a ticket with DSD Support for further troubleshooting.
